Chair
Qualifying as a Speech Therapist at UCL in 2011, Tom has been working in the area of voice disorders for over 10 years, and prior to that complex neuro rehab and head and neck cancer. Tom currently works at Guy's Hospital in London at the voice disorders service. He has a special interest in psychogenic voice disorders and development of specific vocal support for fitness instructors. Tom runs a monthly SLT-led voice clinic and has strong relationships with ENT laryngology, assessing and advising patients in the MDT voice clinics multiple times a week. Tom is also involved in case study and research projects.
Tom was previously membership secretary of the London Voice CEN from 2014-17.
Other experience and outreach: Tom was previously co-chair of the London Northwest NHS Trust LGBTQI+ network from 2017-19 and brought the trust to its first ever London Pride parade in 2019.
Secretary
Sarah qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist from City University in 2015. Whilst studying, Sarah spent time volunteering with the Voice service at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital over a year-long observership where she first developed her love of all things Voice.
Sarah worked for NHS Voice services over 7 years whilst at Kent Community Health Trust, Northwick Park Hospital and at St. George's Hospital. With another similar passion for NHS workforce and leadership development, Sarah now works at NHS England in the People and Culture directorate as well as keeping up Voice private practice in South West London.
Sarah will be taking on the Secretary role with the London Voice CEN from October.
Treasurer
Kirsty is a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist and Voice Lead at Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, managing patients on the voice caseload.
She graduated in 2011 from City University, London after which she worked in courts and then in paediatrics before discovering her passion for voice at a British Voice Association event. She then started working with adults across several London hospitals within a range of specialisms including stroke, acute, and voice.
In her spare time she enjoys singing and she is absolutely delighted to be joining the London Voice CEN.
Social Media Officer
Leo is a Highly Specialist SLT in Voice and Head & Neck Cancer at North East London Foundation Trust, a team he joined on graduating from MSc Speech and Language Sciences at UCL in 2018.
He enjoys the variety and continuing learning opportunities of working with a caseload covering voice, upper airways, pre- and post-treatment head and neck cancer patients, and laryngectomy, and is passionate about the benefits of delivering services in community-based settings.
In his free time he enjoys musical theatre and karaoke.
Membership Secretary
Maria qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2018, beginning her career in Early Years. She now works at the Royal National Ear Nose and Throat Hospital, treating both adult and paediatric voice patients, along with treating benign ENT dysphagia and upper airway caseloads.
She really enjoys running Voice Education Seminar sessions and working in the Speech and Language Therapy led Voice Clinic. In her spare time she enjoys outdoors, martial arts and baking.
Secretary
Kiu is a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist working in Medway. She started her career in the acute setting, gaining experience in areas such as stroke, neurological conditions, and acute dysphagia. Kiu now specialises in voice disorders and in the field of Head and Neck Oncology in the community setting.
Kiu is enthusiatic about about all things voice. She runs the weekly Joint Voice Clinic alongside the ENT Laryngology Consultant as well as the monthly SLT-led Endoscopic Evaluation of Larynx clinic.
Kiu enjoys country walks, musical theatre and getting her hands dirty with pottery. She tries her best at keeping her plant babies alive, and relishes a good yawn-sigh at the end of the day.
Events Manager
Jackie is a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist at the Royal National ENT Hospital (UCLH). She has worked with a voice caseload since qualifying, and also has experience working with a combined voice, head and neck, and acute caseload.
Jackie works primarily with an adult voice caseload in oupatient settings and voice-led clinic.
She qualified at University College London in 2021. She has a background in theoretical linguistics.
Membership Secretary
Naomi is a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist at Ashford and St Peters NHS Trust, where she holds an outpatient voice and upper airway caseload. She also works for North Bristol NHS Trust. She is interested in neuro voice, psychological approaches, and telehealth and digital solutions for voice therapy. She has been working in voice since 2022, with a background in head and neck cancer, acute dysphagia, stroke and neurology.
